The Thumper is an unlockable primary weapon for the Technician class. It fires an arcing projectile that explodes on contact with any surface, or after one second. The Thumper has a smaller radius than the Soldier's Thumper D or Thumper DX, but it does considerably more damage on a direct hit, matching that of the Soldier's Spinfusor at 910.
A direct mid-air kill with this weapon will award the "Air Mail" accolade.

Strategy
The Thumper allows the Technician to defend himself indoors much more effectively than he could with the TCN4 SMG.
Outdoors, the Thumper offers the Technician much greater mobility by means of thumper jumping.
In competitive
Technicians are often used during standoffs (situations where both teams carry a flag, and are defending their carriers instead of flagstands) because their turrets make up for the lost dps caused by sending more players on offence. The thumper allows for more secure flag carrier defence, because when the flag is "knocked loose" (knocked out of the carrier's hand) the technician can shoot the ground near the flag to bounce it into a more favorable position; near the team mates of the technician, for instance.
