Revision as of 23:07, 28 April 2012

-Blan21 Added virtually everything for the raid and pillage update, also added a ton of damage values for a many weapons. Quick question: Should damage values be before or after being upgraded? For example, should I add the +20% damage to armored or just leave it as vanilla? Or perhaps include both like is done with amount carried and add (Max) next to it?

Personally I find that the only interesting/relevant numbers are when the equipment is fully upgraded. However, there is no set standard as this wiki has no mod team or real community to discuss such things properly.--Ravidge 20:28, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

-MrBuddy: Will work on cleaning up a lot of dead end links this weekend due to the new patch, along with minimizing the amount of different pages required to visit for each link. 2/22/2012

-Zamboni Hey I will be working on all the dead ends this weekend and redesigning the main page as well, with your permission. Also you need to make sure you have [1] installed. I spent 3 hours trying to make an info box, something I have done before with ease, only to realize you probably don't have this installed. Also we should talk about the color scheme/image usage/design in general. 2/23/1012

-Laserpanda Signed up today, after noticing there was a lot missing concerning the latest patch. I fixed a lot of links where punctuation or misspelling had caused them to be broken.

-AbbySC Signed up after noticing a lot of missing unlock prices. I'll be adding those as I get access to them, and adding the new soldier unlocks.

-Laserpanda New patch added profile page, that shows all the accolades and their descriptions. I'll add the missing ones when I can get back in (servers are down at the moment.)

Main Page Layout

-MrBuddy Hello Zamboni, you may want to get in contact with Cybernetic in order to work out parser functions, something in which I agree should be used. As for the main page, I, as with many others, welcome any positive changes. Color schemes, in my opinion, should be focused around the tribe colors: red and white for blood eagles and silver and gold for diamond sword. However, this is simply what I think would work... I would love to hear others ideas. The deep red on the main page is currently just a placeholder for any other styles. Design in general could use a lot of work. There are quite a few of things I'm hoping to get working as general layouts in order to keep similarity between pages. Please keep in mind that my coding capabilities are somewhat limited, seeing as how I am fairly new to HTML coding; but I seem to be catching on quickly. Despite my lack of coding capabilities, i do love to take all the in game images and editing them out in Photoshop to make them more appealing/clear. Like I have said before, I will be working on it again this weekend and hopefully we can settle a color scheme and layout design by then. 2/23/2012

-cybernetic Parser functionality is apparently included in MediaWiki 1.18 and above. I'll have it installed tomorrow for you guys. 2/24/2012

-Zamboni Alright I done goofed, all my recently made pages need to be deleted. Not the game modes or tribes ones. But the templates...I made a major coding error...I have to restart. I appreciated the patience.

Wiki upgrade went to hell but it looks like we're back up and running, parser functionality should be available now. --Cybernetic 07:54, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Holy hell that took long 0_o TheGreatZamboni 08:22, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

About four nail-biting hours. :) --Cybernetic 08:04, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm getting an error when uploading images, Could not create directory "public/0/07". Any ideas? TheGreatZamboni 20:48, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Upgrading last night rewrote a few of the directories' permissions which was blocking uploads. Should be fixed now. --Cybernetic 22:40, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Changed the whole main page layout... The one we had was a little text heavy IMO, so I made one that is more focused on redirecting people to articles instead. I hope I didn't step on anyones toes by doing such a major overhaul. --Ravidge 16:25, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Looking good, I think. I see a few orphaned pages but will add back where appropriate. The previous one was a little tough on people using narrower display resolutions. Something like 98% of our visitors have at least 1280px width, so that might be something to keep in mind from a design perspective. --Cybernetic 18:04, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, my resolution is 1920. When i made it i didn't really take that into account :P Nice job with the main page though Ravidge. Anything that makes something better is always a + in my book. --MrBuddy 04:43, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

I have to ask, is there a reason that the Raider and Technician are backwards? I'm assuming it's how it used to be before the game went Open Beta, but it seems a tad off, considering that it is, now at least, the other way around. Enigma, The Ace 15:31, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Oh you're right, I didn't even notice they switched places ingame until you mentioned it now. I always switch classes with the numpad and that still has raider on 5, tech on 6. So yeah, the reason is that's how it used to be --Ravidge 15:58, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

  • Then, should someone change the template on the class pages that lists which ones are under what armor class at the bottom of the page to reflect this? It'll probably confuse people in the future. Enigma, The Ace 18:39, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Weapon Layout

The new table is great for information, but can the image go before the actual stats? IMO it would look better that way.--MrBuddy 14:42, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

You should be able to change the layout by editing Template:Weapon. I haven't familiarized myself yet with the template system so I did not attempt it. --Cybernetic 21:14, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Whoever edited the weapon layout, awesome job. I think it looks a whole bunch nicer now :) --MrBuddy 00:04, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Agreed - kudos to Ravidge and Glimmereyes on the template design! --Cybernetic 02:15, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

I don't really know how to do any advanced stuff with templates. There are a lot of things wrong with the current weapon infobox. First of all it needs some #if variables to display relevant information where it's needed. I'm talking about splash damage, splash range, damage falloff values, reload type (clip or single), and so on. The reason you want #if code is to not display a bunch of empty cells everywhere. Not all weapons have splash for example. Anyway, I'm just saying I don't know how to do it, and I probably don't have time to learn, so anyone is welcome to take over from here --Ravidge 13:01, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Anyway... I made a infobox_item template and added it to all the equipment pages. I got tired of putting in all the values after doing the light classes though. It's fairly straightforward and I hope people will help out making sure the right numbers are in the right place. It's still a little strangely formatted, thinking mostly of the massive gaps between the rows... I'm not sure how to fix that, anyone is welcome to try, however.. should probably get a sandbox page up for the template before mucking around too much. --Ravidge 05:52, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Navbox templates

I was gonna add navboxes to some pages, but in a sudden brainfart I forgot wikipedia has premade templates for this already. So I went and made my own crappy things which also seem to break pages randomly. However when I went to check if the default navboxes were available, it seems they're not? --Ravidge 18:24, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Added a lot of templates back, and made some navboxes. However, it seems like a lot of stuff have been butchered somewhere on the backend... They don't use the right CSS files (there are none?) and I don't understand why some of these templates were even wiped clean? Anyway, there are now navboxes for maps and perks, but as I said, they are very rough because the default style CSS is missing, and probably a few more templates are needed here and there. --Ravidge 20:28, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

I believe TheGreatZamboni started work on the templates but subsequently blanked them when it was discovered our installation didn't have ParserFunctions. Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but changes to our CSS can be made here: MediaWiki:Common.css and guide for editing CSS can be found on the MediaWiki CSS FAQ --Cybernetic 21:06, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

MediaWiki:Common.css is locked. I can't edit it. --Ravidge 21:55, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Ravidge: the reason the hlist test didn't work on your user page is because it wasn't in MediaWiki:Common.css. I duplicated the .hlist settings from Wikipedia's Common.css but stopped short of using the entire thing as I wasn't sure if we needed it all. Everything looks good now. Also, you should now have additional rights to edit Common.css on your own. --Cybernetic 06:51, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! I know of a couple of more things I need to put in there. I'll go ahead and test a number of things throughout the day, if it doesn't work out I'll just roll it back. --Ravidge 12:07, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Editing the Main Page

Please keep MediaWiki's default DisplayTitle or use <h1> tags around the title of the Wiki when making alterations to the Main Page design. --Cybernetic 23:23, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Kick ass you guys used my layout I didnt finish! But I seriously still think it needs work. I stopped working on mine cause Id been busy so...I dunno. take a look at my test area and give some feedback.TheGreatZamboni 20:36, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
