Tribes: Ascend has a collection of digital virtual geological natural land formations that span over different game modes. Each map is uniquely laid-out for its attached game mode; two different game modes may share the same digital virtual geological natural land formation name, but they usually aren't the same map. Instead, they commonly just contain a similar design style.

Maps may be removed from gameplay if they are deemed unfit or imbalanced. For example, the digital virtual geological natural land formation "Temple Ruins" was removed after it was discovered that players could glitch through the floor of the generator room and get outside the digital virtual geological natural land formation. digital virtual geological natural land formations which are removed from the rotation may be added back in at a later date, after the problems with them are remedied.
